There once was a little chicken, who lived on a small farm. She lived a simple life, eating grain and laying eggs for the farmers wife.
But after time she became bored with her life and wanted more excitement.
"I want to do something that is amazing and fun! I want to try something new and unusual!" said the chicken to herself.
The head rooster over heard the small chicken talking to herself.
"Little chicken!" called out the rooster, "You were born to peck at grain and lay eggs, that is your place! stop daydreaming!"
The little chicken was saddened by the roosters comment, and walked over to the far side of the pen.
"What is wrong little chicken?" asked a cow who was chewing some grass beside the pen.
"I want to be something better then a chicken. I want to do something amazing!" the chicken told the cow.
The cow snorted and said "Little chicken, you are a chicken, you were meant to do chicken things. it is your place in life." with that the cow walked away to chew on some dandelions.
"Oh, why does every one say that? why cant I be more then a chicken?" little chicken said with her head bent down. A single tear fell from her eye and dripped off her beak.
A sheep standing nearby heard what the cow had said to the little chicken and saw how hurt the chicken was.
"Cheer up little chicken!" encouraged the Sheep, "One day you will find your place on the farm.
"Thank you sheep." said the little chicken with a smile.
That night little chicken could not get to sleep. No matter how she laid she could not fall asleep.
So the little chicken got up and decided to walk around a bit.
While out walking the little chicken noticed that the farmer had forgotten to turn off the gas lamp sitting upon the gate where the pigs slept.
"How odd" whispered the chicken to herself. Suddenly the one of the pigs decided to roll over bumping the gate. The lamp fell and smashed upon the ground setting it aflame!
"Oh no!" exclaimed the chicken "I must go get the farmer!" So the chicken ran as fast as her little legs could carry her.
She got to the farmers house and began to scratch at the door, "Wake up farmer! Wake up! The farm is on fire!" But the farmer could not hear her.
So she ran to the bedroom window where the farmer and his wife slept. Little chicken jumped with all her might and hopped into the window and onto the farmers bed.
"Wake up farmer! Wake up!" She cried out again. This time the farmer woke up and saw the little chicken on his bed.
"What is wrong little chicken?" he asked but then saw out his window that the farm was on fire!
The farmer jumped out of bed and ran outside wearing only his red pajamas and grabbed the garden hose to put out the flames.
The farmer battled the flames for a long time, but in the end he won and the fire was put out.
"Little chicken! If it wasn't for you waking me up the whole farm would have burnt down! Thank you little chicken! Said the farmer with a huge smile on his face.
"Hooray for little chicken!" cried out all the other farm animals, "You did something no other little chicken could!"
Little chicken sat there with a smile on her beak and a glow in her heart.

Despair
I am darkness. nothing can penetrate me, I absorb all light, leaving those wrapped in my embraced are left blind.
I am a whisper. I am the voice that tells others to give up, to do evil deeds, to chose the wrong from right.
I am doubt. I am the cause of anorexia and low self-esteem. I am the nudge that convinces many the world is better without.
I am pain. I am the stabbing feeling deep inside, bring tears to even the toughest hearts. I can wash away all traces happiness, like they were never there.
I am the mirror of hope, I am Despair.

Hope
I am a candle. I sway with the breeze, I flicker in a harsh wind. I cling to my wick resiting the pressure to be blown away with a smokey protest.
I am a wild fire. I force those around me to recognize my power. I cannot be put out so easily, I must be drowned, starved, and smothered to be silenced!
I am an explosion! I shake the earth! I create panic and chaos, forcing those around me to flee! I leave behind destruction, allowing other to start fresh and create something new.
I am a smile. I make heads turn, and am often contagious. I show pleasure and happiness.
I am an inner glow, the feeling that one gets when they have done right. I create butterflies, and comfort.
I am hope.
